Installation
Install the Nexus plugin in Claude Code or Codex — no npm package required.
Prerequisites
- Claude Code, or the Codex CLI
- Node.js 18+ (only used by the bundled helper scripts — there is nothing to
npm install)
There is no npm package and no global nexus CLI. Nexus is distributed as a git-based plugin marketplace, installed directly from the GitHub repo aayushostwal/nexus.
Install In Claude Code
/plugin marketplace add aayushostwal/nexus
/plugin install nexus@nexus-marketplace
/reload-pluginsAfter reloading, use the current generated catalog to find shipped skills, agents, and commands.
Install In Codex
Use a Codex CLI with native plugin support (local installation tested on 0.157.1):
codex plugin marketplace add aayushostwal/nexus
codex plugin add nexus@nexus-marketplace
codex plugin list --marketplace nexus-marketplace --jsonThe marketplace source may also be a local clone path. Our clean-profile smoke check used that local path; remote fetching, upgrades, and model-driven workflow execution were not exercised by that check. Exact skill invocation and component routing remain host-specific. If codex plugin is unavailable, upgrade or use a local clone's skill instructions with your host.
Bundled Helper Scripts
The plugin's helper scripts are dependency-free Node scripts. Commands run them with plain node:
node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/bin/nexus.js"No install step, no node_modules — Node 18 or newer is the only requirement.
Optional Global Guidance
Installing plugin files does not establish that a bootstrap hook ran. From a cloned or installed plugin directory, preview and apply guidance for one runtime explicitly:
node scripts/bootstrap-agent-docs.js --runtime codex --dry-run
node scripts/bootstrap-agent-docs.js --runtime codexUse --runtime claude for Claude Code. Guidance goes into ~/.codex/AGENTS.md or ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md. Existing content outside the managed block is preserved.
To remove only the Nexus-managed guidance:
node scripts/bootstrap-agent-docs.js --runtime codex --remove --dry-run
node scripts/bootstrap-agent-docs.js --runtime codex --removeUse your host or installer's uninstall mechanism to remove plugin files. Review legacy singular AGENT.md files for personal content before any manual cleanup.
Compatibility And Verification
Claude agents and memory settings are Claude-specific. Codex skill discovery and invocation depend on the host and installer; identical slash commands or subagent behavior are not guaranteed. Native Codex installation was checked in a temporary profile; individual skill routing was not established by the CLI install result.
GitHub issue-to-PR workflows require authenticated repository access through gh or an available GitHub connector. Host permissions control tool execution; Markdown instructions do not provide isolation.
A repository build and content validation do not prove a clean live install. Follow the host smoke checks before declaring a release verified.
